WORD S2E2: FUCK FACEBOOK

Word creator/director Eddie Pages is back with another episode of dope spoken word/slam poetry. In this episode, Eddie zooms in on Desirée Marshall telling a tale of lost love as it relates to social networking. Her poem deftly mixes humor, passion, anger, and sadness into a scenario that we can all relate to. Status updates, wall posts, tagged pictures, likes, and comments have made falling out of touch with ex’s uncomfortably elusive. At once, these tools both remind us of what we’re missing and why we parted ways with that one petulant friend.

Desirée performed the piece at a trimonthly NYC-based event called, “Lyrical Revolt.” All proceeds from these events go to the A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism). Per its mission statement, the organization seeks to put an end to police brutality and wars in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Pakistan, and everywhere. Eddie gives these artists a platform to share their words with the world.
