INTRODUCING BRIDGE KIDS MEDIA AND SOSA

A few months back, Creative Control opened a new channel to host periodic contributions from Bridge Kids Media (BKM). BKM is an NYC-based collective that meets somewhere near the intersection of imagination, music, fashion, film, and graphic design/animation. What makes this group special is how thoroughly their creative product is wrought. With a tight-knit group of experienced, respected and multi-talented contributors, everybody has a hand (or at least a couple fingers) in every note, drum break, cadence, camera shot, and graphic. The current ranks include Manhattan (recording artist, producer, visual coordinator), Kareem Blair (creative director and producer), M.I.K.E. See (music producer, graphic artist), Sosa (recording artist), Sarah Lambo (stylist), and Shariff Johnson (animator, video editor).

The goodies the Kids have to share won’t gather dust on a hard drive. The group’s social media savvy has provided a platform for it to visually narrate its members’ personal, business, and creative interests to their peers, networks, and the rest of the world. As Manhattan often says, “We are the Facebookers.” This generation has pioneered the use of social media to express its passions, ideas and perspectives to a broader audience than was ever before conceivable. The Bridge Kids are marking their territory on this crusade: elevating music-based artistry to new heights, and giving it new dimensions.

The most recent BKM piece on Creative Control features the newest addition to the BKM team, Sosa, lacing vocals for her lead single, “Exit Wounds.” Kareem and company were first impressed with the singer/songwriter/dancer/choreographer’s unique package of talents at a performance alongside Star Trak at Webster Hall, and were lucky enough to link with her through friend and Star Trak recording artist, Christian Rich. The Bridge Kids’ first taste of Sosa in-studio saw her laying vocal arrangements atop Manhattan’s debut effort, Live From The Glitterdome. After hearing her blend buttery tones and an impressive knack for songwriting into a progressive, intimate and organic creation, the Kids realized that they needed her on the roster full-time.

The session for “Exit Wounds,” took place in a Soho studio on an uncharacteristically warm early spring afternoon, and featured Sosa laying vocals to a bare-bones, yet soulful, synth-based track. Thus far,  the songstress has released a variety of soulful tidbits, ranging from features on Manhattan tracks, to song-writing and solo cuts. Fans wondering why Sosa hasn’t dropped a solo project yet should blame the wait on an obsession with perfection and an insatiable desire to fine-tune her creative voice. Sosa has toiled for a year to build a sound that synthesizes her sultry voice, creative vision, and contagious style. You can bet that “Exit Wounds” is just the beginning, and be on the look out for Sosa’s debut effort, “See Sos Run,” coming sooner than you think.
